Combat Rulings
More actions
This is a collection of various rulings and clarifications regarding combat encounters. It is an extension to the rules with more detailed and in-depth explanations to bring some light into niche situations that might arise.
Line of Sight
Some abilities such as attacks, or spells that mention "point you can see" or "target you can see" in their description, require sight.
You cannot target character if:
- You don't see at least 50% of their body or the entirety of their head from your first person view.
- Selector (such as with Magic Missile or Eldritch Blast) doesn't let you use it due to missing Line of Sight.
- You are Blinded or have both of your eyes Maimed.
- There is an area effect that restricts vision in between you and the target or at least one of you stands in it without being able to see through with special abilities.
- The target is Invisible and you lack the ability to see invisible creatures.
Observers
When a player chooses to observe a fight (having been present for its declaration and using /pvp observe), they are basically communicating to the other players upfront that their character either doesn't want to be involved with either side of the combat, or they are too scared to fight, or for any other reason refuse to fight. Observers are IC, and they chose NOT to fight under any change of circumstance. If they could ever possibly have a reason to join the fight, they have to either join it as an participant at the very beginning of the encounter, or leave the scene entirely. They cannot join into an ongoing fight or participate in the consequence phase or engage in another fight with the winning or losing party after the fight is concluded.
