Factions

Farkas de Brasov's children are behind each of the three influential factions of the land. The Gilded Hand and The Wardens both openly support Count Farkas, while under the table they are engaged in a cold war. Neither openly strike at the other, mostly opposing each other through underhanded tactics such as intrigue and influence. The Pale Vigil has kept itself under wraps, rumored to be opposing both The Wardens and Gilded Hand.

The Sisters

The oldest, Ilona de Brasov, seems to wish to gather soldiers and those who believe people must grow strong through hardship and vigilance, that they must cow the curse upon these lands into submission through might. Her middle sister, Katalin de Brasov, seems more inclined towards restoring the political and economic foundations that once made these lands so very prosperous. Their younger sister, Reka de Brasov, said to be sickly and rather enigmatic, is similar to her father in that she is almost never seen in the courts of the capital. Some claim her naively obsessed with old legends and the origins of the maladies that infect this land.

Gilded Hand

Ambitions of Katalin de Brasov lie in the means of production. Resource, goods, and coin must flow. Artisans, laborers, and merchants; most major productivity ultimately winds up in a Gilded ledger. These lands were prosperous once, and Katalin is determined to rebuild the means of resource extraction, production, and commerce that saw Avardon prosper in the past. Those that try to skirt the Gilded Hand's rules, enforcement, dues, or forego their protections or standards see the Gilded Hand become an iron fist courtesy of well-funded and well-equipped mercenaries. The Gilded Hand is thereby a loosely organized collection of common interests and remains the only hope most will ever have of rising above the station of their birth. For better and for worse, competence and ruthlessness are rewarded in equal measure. They are the rivals of The Wardens.

The Wardens

A faction headed by Viscount Levan Borgar, a minor noble who garnered greater attention when he began courting Ilona de Brasov, the eldest daughter of Count Farkas. This faction operates as a military organization where Borgar is the lead, holding the title of Grand Marshall, though it is widely debated just how influential Ilona is in decisions made by the order. Regardless, the organization is a powerful one, having the largest standing army in the realm, and having Borgar as lead, who has already shown himself to be an excellent commander and strategist. They are the rivals of the Gilded Hand.

The Pale Vigil

They are a highly secretive organization opposing both The Wardens and Gilded Hand. Rumor has it, that Reka de Brasov is leading this effort, but little is known of their organization, numbers, or goals. They have virtually no influence at the moment.
